Elections, Halloween, Brothers, Birthdays, and Blogging…

Well it’s that time of the year again, last year at this time I lost my brother Jim.  It was actually on my birthday of all days.  I was having an alright day just before that as I was holding my month old son (Trevor James, who was named in part after my brother) enjoying a quiet Halloween watching a documentary on where the lore of Zombies came from.  I distinctly remember thinking, well I’m finally on my way, aren’t I.  After all I had a job I loved, we lived in a city I love, and could for once pay most of our bills without too much fret.  I’m sure you caught the “d” after the statement, “job I loved”…

This year was better in someways and worse in others.  One thing that I have found funny was all the election commercials about how because of Obama people are out of jobs and losing their homes.  First off, I think you show respect to a person unless you know them personally.  I thought he was still President Obama until late January, in fact I believe it is still proper to call George W. Bush and His Father George H.W. Bush President Bush even now far out of office.  Oh well I’m old fashion, I guess.  Anyway, back to the part about me not having a job and being somewhat, “homeless”.  Yes in fact I was downsized this year and had no plan B in place but that has happened before to many other people during many other Presidencies.  I have the stomach churning privilege to say that I was in this same position when President George W. Bush was in office.  I didn’t hold him to the fire for me not having my job still, and I don’t put that on President Obama now either, in one simple paragraph I’ll tell you why.

I don’t need a villain to become a hero.  In this day and age it seems as if we could never trip and stumble on our own, but rather there has to be something that makes us fall.  Trust me things just happen, there can’t be a devil under every bush.  There just can’t.  They’re  too busy working for the “Liberal Media” and Fox News to waste their time hiding under bushes.  We have a President and by the time tomorrows done he may be someone new.  The fact of the matter is they won’t save us!  It seems no matter who you are before you become The President of The United States of America by the time an election year comes you are one of the most hated people in America.  I have heard President Bush compared with Hitler and President Obama with words that would make even me blush.

No matter who serves our country we who follow Christ must honor Christ by honoring them,

1 Timothy 2

1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,
